What’s Representing You?
As a freelance graphic creator, I find myself often discussing the importance of having media that represents your vision, brand and you in general. And this doesn’t mean any media but GOOD media. There are some basics like having a logo, business cards, a flyer or two and custom graphics for your webpages and profiles. Often many forget that a big part of this media is professional headshots or photos to use on your media. They add a custom option to your media that many will be drawn to by your photo alone. But you have to be careful to use professional photographers or studios whose work your have seen and previewed in advance. If your photos are fuzzy then that is not the quality you want on your media. Also do not post your whole photo shoot on the internet as soon as you have the photos. The key to using photos in your media is to be able to use the photos for a period of time on new media and promotions. As the creator of an online magazine when I feature people I don’t want to use that same photo you have on all your current media and that you use in every storyline you are featured in. If every one has already seen all your photos then there is nothing new to catch their eye when new media drops. When starting a new business you may find your budget limited but with careful budget planning and planning ahead and not rushing into it you can allow for these expenses and present a business that shines right from the start. Also maximize your brand, make it pop and don’t accept the first thing presented to you. You may not have an eye for design so look around and when you see something you like save it. Remember your media is often your introduction so make it count.
